Gustav Hanausek
Gustav Hanausek (born September 4, 1855 in Groß-Rauschenbach / Nagy-Röcze , Gemer and Kleinhont county , Kingdom of Hungary , † September 11, 1927 in Karlsbad , Bohemia ) was an Austrian legal scholar.
Life
Gustav Hanausek attended the Schottengymnasium in Vienna and studied law at the universities of Heidelberg, Vienna, Berlin and Göttingen. Doctorate at the University of Vienna in 1877. In the spring of 1879 , Hanausek completed his habilitation at the law faculty of the University of Vienna with the study "The doctrine of improper usufruct " for Roman law . In 1883 he became an unpaid, in 1885 paid associate professor for Roman law at the University of Vienna, in 1892 a full professor of Roman law at the German University in Prague, and in 1893 a full professor at the University of Graz . There he taught Roman law for thirty-three years, and since the winter semester 1911/12 also commercial and bill of exchange law. Hanausek was dean of the Graz law faculty in the academic years 1898/99 and 1921/22, rector of the University of Graz in 1907/08. Friends and students brought him a commemorative publication on his 70th birthday in 1925: “Treatises on Ancient Legal History”.
Hanausek was a pandectist and dogmatist of private law . In several writings he dealt with university pedagogical problems, in particular with the legal study and examination regulations. His seminar has achieved lasting influence and notoriety. His students include the Romanists Leopold Wenger , Paul Koschaker , Mariano San Nicolò , Artur Steinwenter and Julius G. Lautner , as well as the Germanists Karl Rauch and Max Rintelen and the civil lawyer Ernst Swoboda .
