Gustav Sauser

Gustav Sauser (born July 15, 1899 in Wels , † June 17, 1968 in Innsbruck ) was an Austrian professor of anatomy .

Life

He studied pharmacy at the Philosophical Faculty of the University of Innsbruck (Mag. Pharm. 1922) and then chemistry there with the dissertation on the knowledge of 1,2-dimethyl-3-isopropyl-indole (Dr. phil. 1926). He then studied at the medical faculty there ( Dr. med. 1930). He joined the AV Austria Innsbruck in 1920 .

After stays in Wiesbaden and Tübingen as well as a subsequent position as assistant at the Anatomical Institute in Innsbruck , he completed his habilitation there with the habilitation thesis The Architecture of Spongiosa in a Right Bone Stump according to Pirogow-Günther on May 27, 1935 for anatomy, histology and embryology . On October 1, 1936, he was appointed associate professor to the first chair for anatomy at the Medical Faculty of the University of Vienna .

On October 12, 1945 the father of Ekkart Sauser and Gustav Christian Sauser accepted a position as full professor for histology and embryology at the Medical Faculty of the University of Innsbruck. In 1946 he also took over the anatomical institute. He headed both institutes until his death. From 1946 to 1948 he was dean of the medical faculty and in the academic year 1948/49 he was rector of the university.
