Theodor Gustav Steltzer (born February 4, 1823 in Magdeburg , † February 24, 1893 in Frankfurt am Main ) was a German judge and politician in the Kingdom of Prussia .

Life

Gustav Steltzer attended the pedagogy for the monastery of Our Dear Women in Magdeburg until 1839 . He then studied law in Berlin from 1839 to 1842 . In 1842 he became an auscultator and then a trainee lawyer . From 1847 to 1849 he was assessor at the Magdeburg district court , from 1849 to 1853 district judge in Burg (near Magdeburg) , from 1853 to 1856 city judge in Magdeburg, from 1856 to 1879 district court director in Wetzlar and from 1880 to 1882 senate president at the higher regional court in Frankfurt am Main . He was a Privy Councilor and a member of the Imperial Deputation of the Reichstag .

From 1866 to 1879 Gustav Steltzer was a member of the Prussian House of Representatives for the constituency of Wetzlar. In 1869 he was also elected to the Reichstag of the North German Confederation in a replacement election in the constituency of Koblenz 1 ( Wetzlar , Altenkirchen ) , which also made him a member of the Customs Parliament , which sat from 1868 to 1870 . In the House of Representatives and in the Reichstag he belonged to the parliamentary group of the Old Liberal Center .
