Gustave Kervern
Gustave Kervern (born August 27, 1962 in Mauritius , then United Kingdom ) is a French author, director and actor. He gained notoriety beyond France through film comedies such as Louise hires a Contract Killer and Mammuth .
Life
Kervern began his career in 1991 as a columnist on French television channel Canal + and in 1995 on TF1 .
His fame goes back to his portrayal of a drunk journalist in the fictional country Groland , which was shown in various Canal + programs. It was there that he met Benoît Delépine , with whom he worked on various films as a writer, director and actor.
In 2004 they both worked on a joint script as a director and actor in the comedy Aaltra . This was followed in 2006 by the black and white film Avida , which was shown out of competition in Cannes in 2006.
Other films that he made with Delépine were Louise hires a Contract Killer in 2008 , Mammuth with Gérard Depardieu in the leading role in 2010 and Le grand soir , which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in 2012 and won the special prize of the Un Certain Regard category there Jury was awarded.
In 2020 both received an invitation to compete at the 70th Berlin International Film Festival for the comedy Effacer l'historique .
