To bring Pierre back to life, his daughter Sylvie hires her daughter Juliette's friend, the unsuccessful writer Alex. He should bring Pierre closer to the Internet. This progressed slowly until he got to know a dating portal. There he anonymously becomes a seducer with romantic texts. He makes an appointment with the Belgian Flora. Since he's too old for her, he sends a photo of Alex and makes an appointment. Since Alex needs money, he accepts it. Pierre and Alex travel to Brussels. Flora falls in love with Alex and spends the night with him. She wants to visit him in Paris, and Pierre offers her his apartment as accommodation, in which Alex also lives. When Sylvie appears there with her daughter, Pierre introduces her as Alex's sister. As Pierre intended, the two think Flora is his girlfriend and it sounds like they're having sex.
At the train station, Flora discovers the photo of the woman allegedly supposed to be Alex's deceased wife on an advertising poster, and she stops contact with the men. reception
"Monsieur Pierre goes online" is a version of the old " Cyrano de Bergerac " theme that has been cleverly rescued into the Internet age , and not only nostalgic Pierre Richard fans get their money's worth. "
“A comedy developed around the likeable age role for Pierre Richard, which after an original start is running out of ideas. The film also does not find the right attitude to the "insubordinate" desire of the old man and saves itself in a non-binding happy ending. "
“Sure, something like that doesn't work in the Feel-Good cinema, an old rogue has to be an old rogue and the young men have to remain responsible for the young women. But it's a shame that “Monsieur Pierre goes online” wastes its subversive potential so much. But that's not because of Pierre Richard. You can still surrender to him without hesitation. You don't even have to turn off the light. Must see."
“The unmistakable catch of this finely crafted comedy is unfortunately the factual cruelty with which the cronies deceive the benevolent Flora - even though the script does everything to turn this lousy behavior into forgiving. With real dating scams, you get goosebumps at the confidence with which Flora gets involved with Alex. The beautiful woman who falls in love with Alex and thus unknowingly in love with his ghostwriter is a man's fantasy, a man's joke - and Richard, by the way, too old for his part. "
The film evaluation agency awarded the rating “particularly valuable” and wrote: “In the tried and tested style of French comedy, MONSIEUR PIERRE GOES ONLINE rediscovered the legendary comedian Pierre Richard in a tragicomic role. In fitting dialogues and charming character drawings, he tells of the pitfalls of aging as well as the complexity of human desire. The various film levels are well integrated in the dramaturgical sense. Strong acting performances - above all a welcome reunion with Pierre Richard, a French acting icon of the late 1970s - convey the undoubtedly overconstructed plot, which is based heavily on lies, in a surprisingly haunting way.
