action

A textile factory in Picardy is surprisingly shut down by the company management for the workers. When they come to work in the morning, the machines are dismantled, the bosses are over and over again. The workers decide to pool the money from their ridiculous severance payment and use it to hire a hit man to kill the former boss. Louise promises to contact a professional killer and runs into the guard at a caravan campsite, Michel, who is just a gun fanatic. From this constellation a deadly road movie develops across Europe, in the course of which the atrocities of the capitalist boss are avenged in a macabre way.

Reviews

“'Louise Hires a Contract Killer' is a bitterly angry comedy by the French satirists Gustave Kervern and Benoit Delépine. The film's humor is bone-dry and tailored to the brittle lead actress Yolande Moreau. Anyone who likes macabre jokes beyond good taste and political correctness is in good hands here. Conclusion: Mercilessly malicious underdog grotesque, which combines the dry silent film humor of Buster Keaton with the style of the Coen Brothers . "

“'Louise Michel' is a wonderfully black-humored, bitterly angry, politically incorrect comedy with a high laugh guarantee, which is definitely not suitable for every viewer. [...] But those who have already enjoyed themselves with 'Aaltra' or are not averse to a dark humor, will definitely get their money's worth with this anarcho-comedy - and that even after the end credits, which you will definitely want to see until the bitter end should see. "

“Louise Hires a Contract Killer shines with a relational humor - Lumière, Kubrick or Kaurismäki again - although the open (self-) referentiality sometimes comes across as a bit wooden. With a few gags and quotes, the film seems to be operating border violation only for an end in itself, because not all cross-references are as ambiguous as the scene in which producer Mathieu Kassovitz makes a guest appearance as an understanding organic farm and country hotel owner and thus satirizes his own image. And it is precisely these moments that are particularly fun. "

“Bizarre mixture of dreary social drama and anarcho-comedy, which freezes in boredom due to dramaturgical and technical inadequacies. Only the actors, with their convincing tendency towards fatalism, ensure lasting amusing moments. "

“Very, very bad, black comedy, radical, uncompromising, anarchic to the last. Stay seated after the credits! "

title

The original title is reminiscent of the 19th century French revolutionary and social reformer Louise Michel , to whom the film is dedicated. The German title is based on the film " I hired a Contract Killer " by the Finn Aki Kaurismäki . With the not always politically correct, sometimes marginal, blatant and black humor in this film, that's entirely appropriate. The scenes in the Familistère in Guise , a building complex built by the factory owner and utopian socialist Jean-Baptiste André Godin in the mid-19th century, also refer to the social reform background (in the film, the apartment of Miro's parents).
