The Delegación Gustavo A. Madero , named after the Mexican politician Gustavo Adolfo Madero , is one of 16 districts ( delegaciones ) of Mexico City . It is located in the extreme northeast and thus borders not only on three districts of the Mexican capital, but also on five municipalities of the state of México .

history

The current Gustavo A. Madero district was created in 1931 and takes roughly the place of the previous Villa de Guadalupe Hidalgo , which was named in honor of the Holy Lady of Guadalupe . In keeping with the old name, the old and new Basílica de Guadalupe buildings are also located in this district , built in honor of the Holy Lady and the main attraction of the Delegación Gustavo A. Madero for domestic believers and foreign tourists.

crime

According to an official report from 2009, the district was the third highest crime rate in Mexico City after the neighboring Delegación Cuauhtémoc and Iztapalapa .
