history
Construction of the motorway began on March 24, 1967, and the first section was opened on December 21, 1968 to relieve the port. In 1969 and 1973 the second part was opened, creating a continuous highway through Incheon. The expansion project from Bucheon to Seoul was completed in 1992 and 1993, so that the highway was expanded to 2x4 lanes. On December 17, 1998, the section at Incheon was expanded to 2x3 lanes.
