The Expressway 35 is a freeway in South Korea . The highway is a long north-south route from Tongyeong on the south coast via Daejeon to the capital Seoul . The highway runs mainly through the mountainous interior of South Korea. At the north end of Expressway 35, the street becomes two highways side by side, Expressway 35 and Expressway 37 . Expressway 35 is 365 kilometers long.

Street description

South coast

The highway begins in the far south of the country, near the port city of Tongyeong. From here the motorway runs over a hilly peninsula that occasionally offers a view of the sea. After Goseong , the motorway runs inland, initially in a north-west direction. This section is very mountainous and the motorway has a large number of tunnels . You then reach the city of Jinju with approx. 340,000 inhabitants. Here you cross Expressway 10, the southernmost east-west motorway in the country. To the north, the motorway runs through a narrow river valley. About 60 kilometers northwest of Hamyang you cross Expressway 12 .

Inland and Daejeon

The mountains in this area have a height of up to 1200 meters and the highway has a number of long tunnels. In the region Jangsu is Expressway 20 crossed. From here, Expressway 35 runs north through a mountainous area. There are also ski areas in this area. There are no big cities and no big roads in this section. After about 90 km you will reach the city of Daejeon , one of the largest cities in the country.

Here she first crosses Expressway 300 , which forms the southern ring of Daejeon. The highway then runs along the east side of Daejeon with 2 × 2 lanes to the north. On the east side of Daejeon, the Expressway 1 is crossed and together with the Expressway 35 runs a route. The highway then runs north of the city to the west and on the northwest side of Daejeon Expressway 30 joins the other two highways to form a triple numbering.

Central South Korea

This triple numbering is about 20 kilometers long and the motorway here has 2 × 4 lanes. On the south side of Cheongwon , Expressway 30 exits to the east. A few kilometers later, Expressway 1 heads west, while Expressway 35 continues on an eastern route to Seoul .

In the north you pass through two vast plains between the mountains and crossed in Jincheon the Expressway 40 . The highway runs fairly flat past the steep mountain ridges. Near Icheon is Expressway 50 crossed a west-east highways leading of the few to the east coast of the country. Not far from there, the motorway splits into Expressway 35 and Expressway 37 , which run right next to it. Shortly before Seoul is a huge toll with a width of 200 meters with 34 toll booths. On the east side of Seoul, Expressway 35 ends at Expressway 100 , the Seoul bypass .

history

In 1985 construction of the highway between Seoul and Cheongwan began. On December 3, 1987 the section between Seoul and Cheongwan opened and at the same time the double numbering at Daejeon was expanded with the widening to 2 × 4 lanes. In March 1992 the section between Hamyang and Jinju and in November 1995 the section between Muju and Hamyang went under construction. A month later, the construction of the section between Daejeon and Muju began, so that the entire section between Daejeon and Jinju was under construction in 1995. On December 20, 1996, the section between Jinju-West and the cross opened with Expressway 10 and thus the first part of Expressway 35 south of Daejeon. On October 22, 1998, Hamyang opened to Jinju-West. On December 22, 2000 the section from Daejeon to Muju opened and on November 21, 2001 the section between Muju and Hamyang opened. On December 14, 2005, the last section between Jinju and Tongyeong was opened, completing the construction of Expressway 35.

On November 23, 2001 the parallel expressway 37 between Seoul and Icheon was opened. In 2012, the highway between Seoul and Eumseong was expanded to 2 × 4 lanes.
