The Expressway 17 is a freeway in South Korea . The road is a short north-south stretch between Pyeongtaek and Suwon in the region south of Seoul . The route is currently 27 kilometers long and another 30 kilometers are under construction.
Street description
The highway begins west of Pyeongtaek, a small town about 60 kilometers south of Seoul. The freeway runs due north through a flat surface and then crosses Expressway 40 . The freeway runs west of the US base and along Osan City, then intersects Expressway 400 , which connects to Expressway 1 to Seoul. The highway ends south of Suwon on a side road.
history
The motorway was approved in 2004 and construction of the motorway began in May 2005. On October 29, 2009 the motorway opened with the current length of 27 kilometers. The highway should relieve Expressway 1 in local traffic between Pyeongtaek, Osan Airbase and the southern suburbs of Seoul. Much new infrastructure has been built in this area, including the new motorway.

future
In April 2011, construction began on a 29.5-kilometer section of the northbound motorway, which ends at an intersection with Expressway 15 . This motorway is scheduled to open in April 2016.
