The Expressway 153 ( kor. 평택 시흥 고속도로 ) is an expressway in South Korea . The highway forms a connection between Siheung and Pyeongtaek in the south and west of Seoul and relieves the congestion on the parallel Expressway 15 . Expressway 153 is 43 kilometers long.

Street description

Expressway 153 is a north-south route from Pyeongtaek via Ansan to Siheung, which is intended to relieve both Expressway 1 and Expressway 15 . The motorway has 2x2 or 2x3 lanes, with relatively few exits. Expressway 153 runs west of Expressway 15 and begins at an intersection with Expressway 15 and 40 , west of Pyeongtaek and then parallel to Expressway 15, which runs approximately 5 to 10 kilometers west of it. There are three exits to the secondary road network, including an exit at Ansan City. In Ansan, the highway ends on Expressway 50 , the tangent south of the city of Seoul.

Construction of the highway began on March 31, 2008, and the new highway between Pyeongtaek and Siheung was opened on March 28, 2013.

Further plans include an extension to the south towards Hongseong , parallel to Expressway 15. This section is to be around 55 kilometers long and is to be built between 2013 and 2018. This would bring the motorway to a total length of 108 kilometers.
