The Expressway 60 ( kor. 서울 양양 고속도로 ) is an expressway in South Korea . Expressway 60 is the northernmost east-west highway in the country, from Seoul to Chuncheon and, in the future, to Yangyang on the east coast. The existing section is 79 kilometers long, the planned length is 150 kilometers.

Street description

The highway begins on the east side of Seoul, where City Expressway 88 becomes Expressway 60 from the center of the city, starting at the intersection with Expressway 100 , the Seoul bypass. The highway crosses the Han River and continues east through a mountainous area. The motorway quickly leaves the urban area and runs along lakes and mountains. The freeway runs a short distance south of Chuncheon and eventually crosses Expressway 55 . The first section of the highway ends in Hongcheon , the second section was opened on June 30, 2017 and ends in Yangyang.

history

The first plans for an Expressway 60 date from the mid-1990s. The highway to Chuncheon was opened to traffic on July 15 and October 30, 2009, respectively. On May 26, 2009, construction began on the extension to Yangyang in the east of the country.
