Live and act

Le Querrec started taking photos as a teenager. He first worked with an Ultraflex, which he received as a gift for Christmas 1955, before buying a used Photax as his first camera a year later. In 1962 he bought a Leica . After his military service, which he performed together with Jean-Luc Ponty , he became a professional photographer in 1967; He initially worked in a small advertising agency, from 1969 as a photographer and photo editor for Jeune Afrique and made reports in Chad , Cameroon , Niger and the Central African Republic . In 1976 he became a member of the Magnum Photos agency.

In the late 1970s he began making films with Robert Bober . In 1983 he performed for the first time during a concert in the Rencontres d'Arles Dias; he later did this more often at concerts by the Carnet de Routes trio ( Louis Sclavis , Henri Texier , Aldo Romano ); a book with photos of him from touring the group in Africa was also included with the trio's three albums. Sclavis, Texier, Michel Portal and Christophe Marguet improvised on his pictures at the Frankfurt Jazz Festival in 2012 .

Le Querrec took photos at numerous festivals, including the appearance of musicians around Daniel Humair at the JVC Jazz Festival in 1988 (reproduced in the booklet of CD 9-11 PM Town Hall ). He also traveled through Asia and also photographed North American Indians (recorded in the booklet of Tony Hymas' CD Oyaté ). He has also documented Villejuif , a district of Paris and the Carnation Revolution in Portugal . He also conducted numerous workshops for photographers in France.
