Literary work

From 1963 on, Rewenig first published film reviews in the Luxemburger Wort . In 1970 his first play, Interview, came out, as did a volume of stories, When the fig tree withered . Since 1973 he has also been writing children's literature; his book Muschkilusch , published in 1980, was reprinted eight times.

In 1984 Rewenig published his first novel in Luxembourgish , Hannert the Atlantic . To this day he writes in German, Luxembourgish and French. As a freelancer, he writes articles for newspapers and magazines such as Tageblatt , Alternativ , Perspektiven , Gréngespoun or Forum . Usually it is socially critical texts with which Rewenig targets mentalities and grievances in their own country. His satirical column Made in Happyland in the weekly newspaper Lëtzebuerger Land is particularly known for this .

Cultural engagement

Before the Servais Prize was presented on July 5, 2010, Rewenig wrote an open letter to the current Minister of Culture, Octavie Modert , in the weekly newspaper D'Lëtzebuerger Land, asking her not to appear at the award ceremony and to give the speech. He criticized not only the lack of relationship between the ministry and the cultural workers in Luxembourg, but also the lack of interest in cultural policy of the long-standing ruling party. Michel Pauly took up the topic in the forum , speaking of "cultural policy without visions".
