The pendant leek ( Allium pendulinum ) is a plant from the genus allium ( Allium ) and belongs to the subfamily of the leek plants (Allioideae).
description
The hanging leek grows as a perennial herbaceous plant and reaches heights of 10 to 25 centimeters. The hanging leek usually has only two bare basal leaves that are about 3 to 8 millimeters wide and soon dry up.
The flowers stand from five to nine on a triangular inflorescence stem with a two-part bract . The flowers are initially upright, later not hanging on one side. These are star-shaped to bell-shaped with three green stripes on the bracts, the middle one being longer.
The flowering period extends from April to June.
Occurrence
The hanging leek is common in Sardinia , Corsica , Sicily and mainland Italy .
The preferred location is moist, deciduous forests and bushes.
