Héctor Brambila Quintero (born July 8, 1950 in Guadalajara , Jalisco ) is a retired Mexican football player on the position of goalkeeper .

career

Brambila began his professional career in the 1969/70 season with his "hometown club" Atlas Guadalajara , where he was under contract until 1977 and was named the best goalkeeper in the club's history by the newspaper El Informador .

During his time at Atlas he also made the leap to the national team , for which he played a total of five times between 1971 and 1973. He made his debut for "El Tri" in a test match against the GDR national football team held on August 18, 1971 in the Estadio Jalisco in his hometown . The game ended 0: 1 with a goal from Jürgen Sparwasser . After he played again in a test match against Argentina (2-0) held in the Aztec Stadium in Mexico City on February 6, 1973 , Brambila played three World Cup qualifying matches at the CONCACAF finals held in Haiti in December 1973 . But after the 4-0 debacle against Trinidad and Tobago on December 14, 1973, not only was Mexico's end of the World Cup sealed, but Brambila's national team career was also over. In the last qualifier against Haiti (1-0), which has already become insignificant, the long-time national goalkeeper Ignacio Calderón from city rivals Chivas was in goal again.

In 1977 Brambila moved to Club León , where he stayed until 1984. He then returned to his hometown, where he let his active career end in ranks of the Leones Negros .
