Héctor Alfredo Moreno Herrera (born January 17, 1988 in Culiacán ) is a Mexican football player . The defender has been under contract with al-Gharafa Sports Club since 2019 .

Career

society

Moreno's career began with the traditional Mexican club UNAM Pumas . At the age of 15 he joined the club's youth department. He received attention when he advanced to the final of the FIFA U-17 World Cup in 2005 with the Mexican national team and was able to win the title. The following year, 2006, he was part of the Pumas' professional squad . He was also nominated several times for the U-20 of his country and took part in the U-20 World Cup in Canada.

Due to his good performances in the national and club team, some European teams became aware of him. On December 12th 2007 it was announced that Moreno had signed with the Dutch top team AZ Alkmaar for the next four and a half years . In his first half year he was able to set accents for the AZ and scored his first goal in the Eredivisie . In the following season he won the Dutch championship with the AZ Alkmaar; to in the first second title of the Association for 1981. So Moreno was already operations in the 2009/10 UEFA Champions League , where Alkmaar with 4 draws and 2 losses last place in the preliminary round group behind Arsenal , Olympiakos and Standard Liege occupied and thus retired early.

For the 2011/12 season Moreno moved to the Spanish Primera División to Espanyol Barcelona , where he signed a five-year contract. He made his first appearance for his new club on August 28, 2011 against RCD Mallorca .

On August 15, 2015 PSV Eindhoven announced the signing of Moreno. Upon his return to the Eredivisie , Moreno signed a contract until 2019.

During the Champions League match between PSV Eindhoven and Manchester United on September 15, 2015, Luke Shaw suffered a double fractured tibia after a foul by Moreno and was out for several months.

At the end of the season, Moreno won the Dutch championship with his club.

National team

Moreno made his debut in the jersey of the Mexican national team on October 17, 2007 in a friendly against Guatemala, which Mexico lost 3-2. He was also nominated for the 2010 World Cup and played two games in the preliminary round of Group A (against France and Uruguay).
