Höhe is a district of Aegidienberg , a district of Bad Honnef in the North Rhine-Westphalian Rhein-Sieg district .

geography

Höhe lies in the southwest center of the Aegidienberg district on a ridge sloping to the north between the Kochbach in the west and the Wintersberger Bach in the east. The village covers altitudes between 295 and 310  m above sea level. NHN . Immediately to the south and east is the district of Rottbitze , to the northwest there is a smooth transition into the hamlet-like district of Wintersberg . District road 6 in the north ( Himberg - Wülscheid ) and state road 247 (Rottbitze - junction A 3 - Stockhausen ) in the south run at approximately the same distance from height.

history

The place name Höhe describes the topographical location of the village and developed from "Auf der Höhe" or "Zur Höhe". In 1673 there were ten taxable residents, in 1803 seven residential buildings or house numbers. Höhe is one of the eight honors that made up the parish of Aegidienberg at the latest from the middle of the 18th century until the dissolution of the Duchy of Berg in 1806. The hamlet of Wintersberg also belonged to the Honschaft Höhe.

By the first third of the 19th century the population increased noticeably, in 1843 Höhe already had 16 houses. From 1871 at the latest, according to the results of censuses , the district of Rottbitze comprised an area that was previously calculated as an altitude, which led to a significant decrease in the reported population of altitude. In 1951, on the northern edge of Höhe on the border with Wintersberg, the district road 6 was built, which leads from Himberg with crossing under the motorway via Orscheid to Wülscheid. It replaced a road leading in a straight line from Höhe to Himberg, which was then torn down except for remnants. The district of Höhe did not participate in the noticeable growth of the community of Aegidienberg in the first two post-war decades, but this was made up for in the 2000s at the latest with the creation of an extensive new building area.

A courtyard and a country inn have been preserved from earlier times . At the top of the height there are two kindergartens , one privately owned (built in 1993/94) and one sponsored by the Arbeiterwohlfahrt .

coat of arms

Chalkboard as the town's coat of arms

In 2008 the artist Richard Lenzgen created a slate as the local coat of arms of Höhe and Wintersberg. The two-part coat of arms shows the two villages and their surroundings from the west in the lower half: the mountain ridge (s ) framed by Höher Bach and Cookingbach as well as the Wintersberger Weg as an old church path and the district road 6 ( Eudenbacher Straße ). Both districts are depicted with symbols that are reminiscent of the former ore mining on Höher Berg : Höhe with mallets and iron , Wintersberg with a miner's lamp . A wayside cross represents the importance that Christianity used to have in local life. In the upper half of the coat of arms a chestnut occupies a central place, which has existed since the middle of the 19th century. It is flanked by various agricultural tools, a rooster , another mallet and iron - embodying the development from traditional to modern professions - and a half-timbered house that stands for others in Wintersberg and Höhe.
