geography

Rommersdorf is located at the southern foot of the Korferberg , a hill on the edge of the Siebengebirge , and is the southernmost place on the Siebengebirgshang on the Rhine side , according to its natural boundaries . The center is located at an altitude of 80- 87  m above sea level. NHN on the middle terrace of the Rhine at the entrance of the Anna valley lined by the Möschbach . To the south, Rommersdorf flows smoothly into the district of Bondorf , to the north it flows into the district of Rhöndorf .

history

It is assumed that the place, probably first mentioned as "Rumerstorp" in 1332, is a Franconian clearing. Rommersdorf was one of six honors that made up the parish of Honnef from 1555 until the dissolution of the Duchy of Berg in 1806, and from which the municipality of Honnef subsequently emerged. The northern border to the Honschaft Rhöndorf was formed by the ditch of the so-called "flood raft" near the Eulenhardt hill . In 1663 Rommersdorf had almost 200 inhabitants, in 1828 there were 234 inhabitants.

Rommersdorf is a former winegrowing village and was the location of the tithe barn of the Honnef parish, in which part of the yields of the tithe vineyards were delivered. The barn burned down between 1637 and 1639, was rebuilt in 1719 and laid down in 1934. Adjacent was a Zehnthof of the Jesuits ("Hof zu Waldeck"), which was auctioned off in 1835 in the course of secularization . The Merten monastery in Rommersdorf also had a farm. At the northern corner of the confluence of the Meßbeuels in the Frankenweg was a winery of the Kreuzherrenkloster Ehrenstein ("Waldecker", later "Wa (h) linger Hof"). In 1746, in a so-called " cellar visit" in Rommersdorf, 28 taxable wineries were visited, with the red wine share of 261 ohms being 56%. The Carolina II mine , which was operated in the Annatal for the extraction of lead ores and was closed at the latest by the end of the 19th century, also had economic importance for the place .

In the five decades after Honnef was elevated to town in 1862, Rommersdorf grew together structurally with the neighboring former honors. There are close historical connections to the neighboring former Honschaft Bondorf. The district with a large number of preserved half-timbered houses from the 17th and 18th centuries is one of the areas in the Bad Honnef valley area with the oldest building stock. It has preserved its original, village character in the purest possible way.

It was created as the house chapel and foundation of the Baroness von dem Bongart . At the square-like intersection of Rommersdorfer Strasse and Wilhelmstrasse / Möschbachstrasse ("Annaplatz") is the Anna column (1923) by Peter Terkatz . A cultural center of the district is the Weinhaus Steinbach in a half-timbered house from the year 1752. Rommersdorf organizes the Annakirmes annually together with the district Bondorf .
