List of grape varieties |
Hölder is a white wine variety bred in 1955 . Hölder was crossed from the Riesling and Ruländer varieties by August Herold at the State Training and Research Institute for Viticulture and Fruit Growing in Weinsberg . He is officially marked with the breeding line number We S 397. The variety has had plant variety protection since 1987 and was entered in the list of varieties in the same year . In 2007 the area under vines was only 6 hectares after it was 12 hectares in 2001.
The grape variety is dedicated to the poet and son of the city of Lauffen am Neckar , Friedrich Hölderlin . The wines are strong, fruity and have a pronounced Riesling character.

Ampelographic varietal characteristics
In ampelography , the habitus is described as follows:
- The shoot tip is open. It is only slightly hairy. The green young leaves are spotted bronze (anthocyanin spots).
- The small to medium-sized leaves are five-lobed. The stem bay is closed with a half overlap. The blade is bluntly serrated. The leaf surface (also called blade) is only slightly blistered.
- The cone-shaped grape is medium to large and moderately dense. The round berries are small to medium-sized and green-yellow in color. The aroma of the berry is almost neutral.
The grape variety Hölder sprouts medium-late and is therefore not very sensitive to possible late spring frosts. With good wood ripeness, it is characterized by good winter frost hardiness. The variety is moderately susceptible to powdery mildew and less susceptible to downy mildew and gray mold rot .
