The Höllerer See is a body of water in Upper Austria in the area of the municipalities of St. Pantaleon and Haigermoos . It is 780 m long, 330 m wide and has the shape of a kidney ; the maximum depth is 21 m.

The Höllerer See covers an area of approx. 20  hectares and stores around 3 million  m³ of water. The sea water level is on average 464 m above the Adriatic Sea .

The basin of the lake is shaped like a boat. In the bank area , the embankment drops relatively quickly to a depth of around 10 m and in the middle area the subsoil has a uniform depth of around 21 m. The water level fluctuations, which depend on the groundwater level , are approx. 30 cm. The great depth compared to the surface leads to a rare limnological phenomenon: the water below a depth of approx. 10 m does not mix with the water above, even during the mixing phases.

The wooded banks in the east and west provide good protection from wind and lead to rapid warming in spring. The Höllerersee is therefore also a popular bathing water with mostly good water quality. The trees on the shore has white willow , black willow , sallow , alder , black cottonwood trees and the Common Birch on. In the forest around the lake are the usual trees of the local mixed forests .

The lake is managed by the fishery , whereby primarily catfish , pike , pikeperch , trout ( rainbow , lake and brook trout ), char , bream and carp ( scale , mirror , leather and silver carp ) are used.

In the northern lakeshore area, meadow and lake areas were leased by the Haigermooser Beautification and Tourism Association so that this lakeshore area remains accessible to the general public and is appropriately maintained.
