The Höllkar is 1169  m above sea level. A. high peak near Sankt Gilgen in the Salzburger Salzkammergut .

Location and landscape

The Höllkar is located between Wolfgangsee , Fuschlsee and Mondsee , north of St. Gilgen. It belongs to a group of low, gentle mountains on the edge of the Alps, which then drop towards Mondsee in the Drachenwand . This group is Höllkargruppe , or after the higher peaks above Thalgau, the Schober also Schobergruppe called.

The Höllkar summit itself rises relatively inconspicuously above the small St. Gilgner valleys of the Obenau and the Zeppezau near Winkl . At St. Gilgen it stands behind Wallhüttenkogel  ( 1116  m above sea level ) and Obenauerstein  ( 1027  m above sea level ). St. Gilgener Berg (Gimsenwirt) is located to the south-west . To the southeast, the Eibenberg  ( 923  m above sea level ) rises above Scharfling am Mondsee, northeast of the Almkogel  ( 1030  m above sea level ) above Plomberg , and to the northwest towards the Drachenwand the Plomberg  ( 1105  m above sea level ). To the west lies the Eibenseekopf  ( 1205  m above sea level ), and in between the Eibensee , which lies in a side valley from Fuschl .

ways

The mountain can be easily climbed from the surrounding valley towns via the forest roads in the area and numerous marked trails into the Eibensee area. The Höllkaralpe was recommended as a rewarding panoramic mountain as early as the beginning of summer . Today the summit is partially forested.
