Hörmanshofen is a district of the Upper Swabian community of Biessenhofen in the Ostallgäu district in Bavaria .
The church village borders Biessenhofen to the south and lies between Wertach and Geltnach in the Altdorf district . Hörmanshofen is located near the confluence of the Geltnach and the Wertach. The Ottilienberg, geologically a disused molasse core, is located directly at the village and is the only elevation in the Altdorf valley. On the mountain are the pilgrimage church of St. Ottilia , first mentioned in 1433 , a farm and a five-wound chapel known locally as "Brünnele" with a miraculous spring. A castle, which was probably built on the mountain in the 16th century, and a Sebastian chapel near the Chapel of Five Wounds, which was demolished in 1803, are no longer available.
history
Hörmanshofen appears for the first time in 1317 as Hermanzhofen in a document with reference to the Kaufberur hospital. In 1574 ownership passed to the local lord Marquard von Benzenau.
