The Hörnle rises as the first mountain in the Ammergau Alps from the foothills of the Alps and is considered Bad Kohlgrub's local mountain . It forms a group consisting of three peaks: Vorderes Hörnle ( 1484 m ), Mittleres Hörnle ( 1496 m ) and Hinteres Hörnle ( 1548 m ). The Stierkopf ( 1535 m ) connects to the south .
Numerous hiking trails, the chairlift Hörnle train that managed Hörndlhütte and a ski slope make the Hörnle in every season an attractive destination for visitors and mountaineers. From the summit you have an unobstructed view of the foothills of the Alps with the Bavarian lakes and the peaks of Wetterstein , Karwendel and Ammergau Alps.
Geologically, the area belongs to the Flysch Mountains . On the north-east side of the mountain, a mountain slide, which is wooded for the tendency to slide, is visible from afar. Below the rock drop, known as a rift ditch, lies a broad cone with deep water cracks ("Im Gsött"). The landslide is recorded in the Bavarian geotope register as a rare and valuable geotope.
ways
The easiest way to the Hörnle leads from Bad Kohlgrub on well-developed paths to the summit. Another path begins at Kappel near Unterammergau .
