Hüseyin Kartal (born January 1, 1982 in Eğirdir ) is a former Turkish football player . He is associated with the MKE Ankaragücü association, where he experienced his most successful period. With the Turkish national team he took part in the Confederations Cup 2003 and reached the 3rd place.

Player career

society

Hüseyin Kartal began playing club football in the youth teams of various amateur clubs in his hometown of Eğirdir in the province of Isparta . For the 1999/00 season he moved to the then third division Sidespor at the age of seventeen with a professional contract . Here he quickly made it into the regular formation and completed 29 league matches for his club by the end of the season, scoring 10 goals. In the second season he increased his performance and scored 19 goals in 25 league games. He was noticed by those responsible for the Turkish U-18 national team, who then nominated him. Through his appearance in the Turkish U-18, several first division clubs became aware of him and tried to get a commitment. The capital club MKE Ankaragücü reacted the fastest and signed the young talented striker. This change was made on the directive of the newly hired Ankaragücü coach Ersun Yanal . This trainer is known for having a very good talent scouting program, which means that he is usually the first to spot unknown talent and bind them to his current employer. Moved to Ankaragücü, Kartal quickly made it into the starting line-up thanks to Yanal's support program and at the end of the season was one of the league's most noticeable shooting stars with eight goals in 25 games at the age of nineteen. His club finished the league in 4th place in the table after 20 years and repeated the best placement in the club's history. With this placement they qualified for the UEFA Cup . The second season was rather mixed for Kartal; Although he was one of the constantly nominated players of the Turkish U-21 national team and was almost always used in the club as a regular player, he remained well below expectations with one goal in 25 games.

In the summer of 2002, its discoverer and sponsor Yanal left the club and took over city rival Gençlerbirliği Ankara . Under Yanal's successor, the Romanian coach Mihai Stoichiță , Kartal was used regularly, but fell short of expectations. Kartal also left Ankaragücü in the summer of 2003 and moved within the league to city rivals Ankaraspor . Even with this club, he did not succeed in building on his previous achievements. For the new season he left the capital in the direction of the first division club Denizlispor . Here he played one and a half seasons and was only used sporadically.

In the spring of 2007 he accepted the offer of the second division club Diyarbakırspor and moved to the TFF 1. Lig . The second half of the season was rather mixed at this club, so that Kartal was only used in six games. In the 2007/08 season he had another successful season after a long time. With eleven goals in 28 games, he was the team's most successful goalscorer. The first half of the following season he also spent at Diyarbakırspor and then left the club.

For the second half of the season 2008/09 he hired at the first division relegated Kasımpaşa Istanbul . With this he reached the final of the play-offs. In the final, they beat Karşıyaka SK 2-1 , with Kartal scoring the decisive goal in the 117th minute to make it 2-1. After the rise, Kartal received a two-year contract.

Despite the contract extension by two years, which had only just been concluded, the contract was terminated by mutual agreement after just one month. Kartal reached an agreement with third division club Göztepe Izmir before the end of the summer transfer period . With this club he reached the championship of the TFF 2nd Lig at the end of the season and thus direct promotion to the TFF 1st Lig . Despite this success, he left the club at the end of the season and hired third division club Yeni Malatyaspor . After a year at Yeni Malatyaspor, he also left this club.

National team

Hüseyin Kartal played for the Turkish national team for the first time in September 2000 when he played for the Turkish U-18 national team while at Sidespor .

Two years after this mission for the U-18s, he was nominated for the first time for the Turkish U-21 national team and was one of the regularly called players for two years, in which he met three times in 15 games. On the occasion of the 2003 FIFA Confederations Cup , national coach Şenol Güneş nominated not only seasoned national players but also many young players who had never played for the national team or only played a few times to the Turkish national team . During this tournament he completed his only two international matches. His team finished the tournament third.

In 2004 he played twice for Turkey's second selection and scored one goal.
