Lekhnath ( Nepali लेखनाथ नगरपालिका ) is a city ( municipality ) in the Pokhara Valley in central Nepal , approx. 7 km southeast of Pokhara ; the two urban areas border one another.
The city developed as a suburb of Pokhara and has no actual center. Lekhnath is located in the Kaski district of the Gandaki administrative zone . The Annapurna massif rises north of Lekhnath . The south of the river Seti Gandaki location Village Development Committee Bharatpokhari was incorporated. The urban area was enlarged by 44.2 km² and now covers 121.6 km².
Lekhnath is named after the well-known Nepalese poet Lekh Nath Paudyal (1885–1966), who was born in the Arghaun Archale district . There are seven lakes in the urban area: Begnassee , Rupasee , Khaste, Depang, Maidi, Neureni and Gunde, of which the smaller ones are largely silted up.
Residents
At the 2011 census, the city of Lekhnath (including Bharatpokhari) had 68,622 inhabitants (31,218 male) in 17,405 households.
