HK Motor Zaporizhia

HK Motor Saporischschja ( Ukrainian ГК "Мотор" Запоріжжя ) is a handball club from the Ukrainian city ​​of Zaporizhia . Until 2012 the club was called HK "Motor-ZNTU-ZAS".

The club plays in the highest handball league in Ukraine, the Ukrainian men's handball super league (Гандбольна Суперліга).

National successes

The club, founded in 1958, won the national championship and the cup for the first time in 2013. In 2014, the team won the championship without losing points.

International success

The EHF European Cup Winners' Cup 2011/12 was a sign of attention when they won the quarter-finals after a 30:39 home defeat in the second leg at SG Flensburg-Handewitt with 32:27. In the EHF Champions League 2013/14 they reached the round of 16 against THW Kiel . Since the local hall does not meet the requirements of the EHF , the home games were played in Kharkiv , about 300 km away . Due to the tense political situation in spring 2014, the first leg of the last 16 was moved to the Hungarian city of Győr . THW Kiel won this with 31:28.
