The HSG Union 92 Halle is a handball club from Halle in the Gütersloh district . The first women's team played in the 3rd division from 2010 to 2016 . The club should not be confused with the SV Union Halle-Neustadt from Halle (Saale) .

history

The HSG Union was established in 1992 through the merger of the handball departments of the clubs SC Halle (founded on November 7, 1919), TV Deutsche Eiche Künsebeck (founded 1920) and TSG Kölkebeck-Bokel (founded on October 28, 1925 as TV Deutsche Eiche Kölkebeck , 1971 merger with BSV Bokel ).

The parent clubs

The handball players from Künsebeck were important in terms of sport . The men became Westphalian runners-up in 1932 after losing the final against VfL Hagen in 1863 6-7. Nevertheless, the Künsebeckers qualified for the German championship of the German Turnerschaft and failed there in the first round with 6:10 at the Turn-Club Limmer . In 1933 the team was one of the founding members of the then first-class Gauliga Westfalen . At the end of the 1933/34 season , the Künsebecker had to relegate after a 5-9 defeat against the police SV Bielefeld . In 1939 they were promoted to the Gauliga, which the team had to leave in 1942. After the Second World War , the Künsebeckers rose in 1969 to the then second-class Oberliga Westfalen . In indoor handball, the Künsebeckers could not achieve any success, but produced a future national player with Hartmut Kania .

The women's team belonged in 1978 to the founding members of the then second-rate Regional League West and took in the 1977-78 season at the DHB Cup in part. There they were subject to the OSC Berlin in the first round . Four years later the team was relegated from the regional league and in 1987 managed to get promoted again. The handball departments of SC Halle and TSG Kölkebeck-Bokel could not achieve any national success.

Women

After the merger, Unions women first played in the Oberliga Westfalen , before being promoted to the now third-class Regionalliga West in 2007. There the women from Hall were runner-up behind the HFV Graefrath from Solingen in the 2008/09 season . A year later the team was runner-up again, this time behind TuS Lintfort . At the same time, the team qualified for the newly created 3rd division. There Union was initially assigned to the group East and reached fourth place in the 2010/11 season . In 2012, the regrouping took place in the northern relay. There, in the 2012/13 season , Sina Speckmann was the top scorer in the league.

For the 2014/15 season , the women from Hall were again divided into the eastern group, from which the team had to relegate two years later. Since the club could not provide a competitive team for the next season, the HSG Union 92 waived a place in the major league or the association league and planned a fresh start in the state league in the 2016/17 season. This failed because the women from Hall had to relegate as the penultimate in the district league. Therefore, Maik Hahn, a trainer who had already successfully implemented a new trainer at TuS Brockhagen, was hired for the 2017/18 season. With an extremely young team as a base, this season's relegation was the first step towards a more successful phase in women's handball at this club.
