The Police SV Bielefeld (officially: Police Sports Club Bielefeld ) is a sports club from Bielefeld .

history

The club was founded on January 21, 1921 as the Bielefeld Police Sports Club, but after a short time had to change its name to Bielefeld Police Association for Physical Exercise . Initially only police officers could join the association, but in 1930 the association also opened up to civilians . As a result of the Second World War , the club was shut down at the end of 1939 and re-established on June 6, 1946 as the Police Sports Club Bielefeld eV from 1921 . The association has had its current name since 2001.

Starting in 1956, the association organized the annual police sports festival on Königsbrugge , which welcomed up to 10,000 spectators. The police SV was also the organizer of the fun run in the Sennestadt district until 1993 . The Bielefeld Disabled Sports Association has been cooperating with the Police SV since 1972 .

Sports offer

The club offers the sports jujitsu / Kobudō / Luta Livre , Kickboxing , Judo , Karate , Wing Chun , basketball , bowling , volleyball , rehabilitation sports , mass sports , men's gymnastics , athletics , shooting sports , Zumba and self-defense at. In earlier times, the club still offered badminton , boxing , fistball , soccer , handball , bowling , running , motor sports , swimming , skiing , softball and table tennis .

Softball

In 1983 the softball department was founded and played its home games on the lawn next to the Bielefeld cycling track . Between 1984 and 1994 the team became German softball champions eleven times in a row . The department was later disbanded, with neither the year nor the circumstances being known.

Handball

The handball players of the SV Bielefeld police reached the final round of the West German handball championship in 1929 and 1930 and both came fourth. In 1934, after a 9: 5 victory in the relegation game against TV Deutsche Eiche Künsebeck, he was promoted to the then first-class Gauliga Westfalen . With 2:34 points, the team had to relegate as the knocked-down bottom of the table of the 1934/35 season .

athletics

Hans-Werner Wogatzky became German champion over 3000 meter obstacle in 1966 . The 3x1000 meter relay finished sixth at the German championships in 1959 and fifth a year later. In 1961, Siegfried Nürnberger was sixth in the 800 meter run .
