Munich-based funeral director Hades tries to fulfill even the most unusual wishes of its customers. Flashbacks with original recordings of the Warsaw ghetto depict the survival of the Jewish child Ismael, who survived the Holocaust as Otto and became a coffin manufacturer. The framework for the film is provided by stories that Hades gives to a police officer after being hit by a stone.
