Seyed Hadi Khosroshahi ( Persian سید هادی خسروشاهی; * 1938 in Tabriz ; † February 27, 2020 in Tehran ) was an Iranian cleric and diplomat .

Life

Khosroshahi was born into a Persian family of scholars who had produced great scholars for generations. In his youth he joined Fedayeen-e Islam , a radical Islamic organization that pursued the goal of purifying Islam of "corrupt individuals" through targeted assassinations. As a theologian, he wrote numerous theological works that were also translated into Arabic.

In the 1980s he represented Iran as ambassador to the Holy See . He then worked diplomatically for the Islamic Republic in Cairo .

Khosroshahi died on February 27, 2020 at the age of 81 during the COVID-19 pandemic of complications from a COVID-19 illness, after being hospitalized in Tehran the day before.
