Haelen ( listen ^{? / I} ) is a church village in the Dutch province of Limburg . It is located near Roermond on the left of the Meuse on the N273 national road. Haelen has 4,265 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2018).

Former municipality of Haelen

On January 1, 2007, the previously independent municipality of Haelen merged with three others to form the municipality of Leudal . In addition to the town of Haelen, where the administrative seat was located, the former municipality also included the villages of Buggenum (940 inhabitants), Horn (3972 inhabitants) and Nunhem (688 inhabitants).
