Port skirt or harbor rock is a three- to four-day year since 1993 Openair - Music Festival , the parallel with the Hamburg Port Festival takes place.

history

The festival is an open air event and took place for the first time in 1993 on the former truck parking lot on St.Pauli Hafenstrasse. At first they started with a stage, which looked rather lost on the almost 10,000 m² square. It was planned from the beginning to establish 'Hafen Rock' as an independent festival for the harbor birthday, with a different program than was otherwise known from popular festivals. For several years now, all of the music stages at Hafen Rock have been in the western area of the Hafengeburtstag, directly on St. Pauli Hafenstrasse with the Elbe promenade.

Hafen Rock now has three stages for musicians and a supporting program. The most important stages are the Astra Hafenrock stage and the Jolly Roger stage, which are opposite each other around 600 meters away. Another smaller stage, the Gipsy Lounge, is located roughly in the middle between the two main stages.

The former fourth, the NDR stage, which was also located on the site, was spun off after a few years and will be continued independently by the NDR and is now located at the St. Pauli-Elbtunnel .

Another record number of visitors was achieved in 2016, with over 50,000 people visiting the event on four days (including Father 's Day and Mother's Day ) when the weather was good.

Hafenrockbühne

On Friday, on the former Astra stage, the “main stage”, in addition to the obligatory shanty choir, mainly German bands and musicians from the Hamburg area, such as Maggers United , 5th Avenue and Christian Steiffen, will perform . On Saturdays, the stage program begins with rather unknown bands and later increases to the main event with international and nationally known bands such as Manfred Mann's Earth Band , Feuerschwanz and Dark Age . The Sunday program is initially family-oriented and is later dominated by rock 'n' roll and rockabilly .

Jolly Roger stage

This stage mainly offers live music from reggae , punk , folk and ska . Nationally and internationally known bands from this scene appear. But also the styles of rockabilly and anti-fascist Oi! are represented. The annual stage program has the motto "Love Music - Hate Fascism!" And is supported by FC St. Pauli .

Gipsy Lounge

The Gipsy Lounge is the smallest of the three stages. On this predominate are acoustic versions of gypsy jazz and swing , as well as dance and singing performances from Southeastern Europe shown. Around the stage there is a fortune teller booth , as well as food and drink from Southeast Europe. Another highlight is the popular gypsy service on Sunday at 1 p.m.
