Hal Gausman
Hal Gordon Gausman (usually Hal Gausman or Hal G. Gausman ; born November 13, 1917 in Los Angeles , California , † June 1, 2003 in Ventura County , California) was an American production designer and set designer .
Life
Hal Gausman began his career in 1952 as a production designer for an episode of the American television series Police Report . Between 1957 and 1959 he worked on the series Zorro with Guy Williams in the title role for the first time for the Walt Disney Studios . From 1959 to 1974 he worked for the Disneyland series. After working on the feature film based on the television series Zorro , he received his first Oscar nomination for the equipment of his next Disney film The Flying Pauker . In 1964 he was nominated a second time for Mary Poppins , a third nomination followed in 1971 for The Daredevil Witch in Her Flying Bed . He received his last Oscar nomination for a Disney production in 1974 for Island at the End of the World .
In the mid-1970s, Gausman worked for Universal Pictures and took part in the war film MacArthur - Hero of the Pacific with Gregory Peck in the lead role. In 1978 he received a nomination for the Emmy Award for the first time . In the same year he worked for the first time with John Landis , whose comedies I think I'll kick a horse and Blues Brothers he outfitted. For The Untouchables , he was nominated a fifth and final time for an Oscar, which he never won. Most recently he worked on the television series Falcon Crest from 1988 to 1989 .
