The alpine pasture Rusinowa Polana , also called Hala Jaworzyna Rusinowa , is an alpine pasture on the slopes of the Gęsia Szyja peak in the Polish High Tatras in the Lesser Poland Voivodeship . It is an alpine pasture surrounded by mountain forest in south-east Poland near the border with Slovakia and the former border crossing Łysa Polana / Javorina , from where you have a view of the highest Tatra peaks. It is located at an altitude of 1170 to 1300 meters above sea level .
In the immediate vicinity there is a Shrine of the Virgin Mary ( Matki Boskiej na Wiktorówkach ), which was visited by Cardinal Karol Wojtyła, later Pope John Paul II . The region is still home to many sheep pastures.
history
The pasture was created in the 17th century. As one of the few Tatra alpine pastures, it is still used today for livestock farming.
tourism
Since the beginning of Tatra tourism, routes have led through Rusinowa Polana. As early as 1886, the Polish painter Walery Eljasz-Radzikowski described the Alm as a cozy place to linger.
There are three hiking trails on the Alm.
- ▬ A blue marked hiking trail leads from the Zazadnia Alm to the Alm.
- ▬ A green hiking trail leads from the Wierchporoniec peakto the Schronisko PTTK Murowaniec mountain hut.
- ▬ A black marked hiking trail leads from the Alm to the Hala Wołoszyna Alm.
There are several alpine huts on the alp that are still in use. The shepherds sell their products here, especially oscypek mountain cheese .
