Hallescher Dichterkreis 1733
The oldest Halle poet group was founded in 1733 by the Pietist Samuel Gotthold Lange (1711–1781). Members were Jakob Immanuel Pyra (1715–1744) and other theologians. At first they were followers of Gottsched , later they tried to counter the Gottsched school. Her work Verweis that the Gottschedian sect spoils the taste (1743) continued the Zurich literary controversy in Germany. They were enemies of rhyme , which they tried to displace by introducing ancient meter. Their poems appeared together under the title " Thyrsis' und Damons Freundschaftliche Lieder " (Zurich 1745). It is noteworthy that this sensitive lyric later inspired Klopstock to write without rhymes.
Hallescher Dichterkreis 1739
The Hallesche Dichterkreis was founded in 1739 by Johann Peter Uz (1717–1806), Johann Wilhelm Ludwig Gleim (1719–1803) and Johann Nikolaus Götz (1721–1781) as a counter-model to the older, Pietist circle of Halle poets. As a representative of the Hallische Anakreontik they tried to establish a German rococo poem. The “ memento mori ” / “ vanitas ” of the Baroque gives way to light lyric poetry that emphasizes life (“ carpe diem ”), which now also expresses everyday contexts. The Halle poets received inspiration from the philosophical lectures of Alexander Gottlieb Baumgarten and Georg Friedrich Meiers . At the same time a circle of anacreontists developed around Friedrich von Hagedorn (1708–1754), who worked in Hamburg .
In 1746 Götz published a translation of the Odes Anacreons in rhyming verse , to the annoyance of Uzen, who thought it was not yet ready for printing. It is characteristic of this early phase to design a counter-model to Pietism in Halle and to sing about a culture of sensuality - also in a departure from the baroque fear of death. Topics are love, wine, jokes, dance and cheerful sociability. The whole person beyond reason and work ethic is looked at. The central motifs are the sheep farm and Bacchus (Dionysus).
Hallescher Dichterkreis 1991
The Hallesche Dichterkreis was re-established in 1991 by Ralf Meyer, Gero Hirschelmann, Volker Dietzel and others following a poetry seminar at the Martin Luther University in Halle . In 2006, the circle of poets comprised around 25 writers who meet regularly for the writing workshop. Numerous novels such as the Concerto for Housefly and Orchestra by Wolfgang Rüb were discussed in the Halleschen Dichterkreis at the time they were written; it has become an important point of contact for young authors in the literary landscape of Central Germany . While in the first few years young lyricists in particular came together to fight over the rediscovery of literary pathos, in the later years prose authors also came together. The basic maxims of working together are that texts have to work and that they obey an internal logic.
Important representatives of the circle are Dirk Bierbaß , Udo Grashoff , Ronald Gruner , Christine Hoba , Gabriel Machemer , André Schinkel , Simone Trieder , Christian Kreis . This also includes Marina Zühlke, who never presents anything herself, but whose judgments are well founded,

- In 1993 the anthology " intermezzo staling snakes " was created.
- Thomas Böhme , Gero Hirschelmann and Udo Grashoff published the editions of Edition Pulverweide from 1994 to 1997 .
