The Hamburg Drama Studio Frese is a state-recognized, private vocational school in Hamburg and trains actors for theater, film, television and dubbing. With more than 62 years of teaching experience, the school is the oldest drama school in Hamburg. It was founded in 1958 by Hildburg Frese . The director Jürgen Hirsch has been running the acting studio since 1999.

Training content

In six semesters, the budding actors receive lessons in breathing, language and singing, dance, physical training, theory and acting. The training takes place according to the traditional methods of Stanislawski and Brecht. In addition to classical stage training as a basis, the students are taught knowledge of film and television acting.

During their studies, the students work in close cooperation with directing students from the Hamburg Theater Academy (HfMT) and play in smaller roles at the theater.

Since 2010 there has been a further cooperation in the film and camera sector with the Hamburg University of Applied Sciences , in which the Media Department plans, shoots and completes official examination films together with the students of the Frese drama studio.
