Hamidullah Karimi (born February 6, 1992 in Herat , Afghanistan ) is an Afghan soccer player who has played for the Afghan first division club Tofan Harirod since 2016 and for the Indian second division club Delhi United SC since 2017 .

Club career

Until 2012 Karimi played for Ettefaq Herat in the Herat Premier League. Like most other players in the 2012 Afghan Premier League , he was spotted on the Maidan e Sabz football casting show and signed with Tofan Harirod .

He made his debut in the newly founded league on September 21, 2012 in a 4-1 win over Simorgh Alborz , where Karimi scored a goal to make it 2-0. In the second game against Oqaban Hindukush (4-0) he scored three goals, and thus scored the first hat-trick in league history. In the third and final group game against Mawjhai Amu , he managed another three-pack. He was the only player besides Abdul Wahid Noorzai to score at least one goal in all games up to the semi-finals. In the end you could celebrate the championship. Hamidullah Karimi was the top scorer of the APL 2012 with 9 goals and thus contributed a large part to the championship of his team.

In the 2013 season he played again in the Herat Premier League, this time with Kohistan Herat .

In the APL 2013 he built on his achievements of the previous season. Although Karimi missed the first game because he was with the national team at the South Asian Championships in Nepal , he scored four goals in two games in the group stage, which they finished first. The final was surprisingly missed; after winning 2-0 in the semifinals against Shaheen Asmayee , Tofan Harirod lost the second leg 0-3. Karimi scored the 2-0 result in the first leg. In the end they finished third after beating Oqaban Hindukush 4-0 in the third-place match ; the striker scored the 2-0 and the 4-0. As in the previous year and alongside Hashmatullah Barekzai , Karimi was the top scorer with a total of seven goals .

His third season at Tofan was disappointing; with only four points from three games they were eliminated in the group stage, Karimi himself could only score one goal to make it 1-1 against De Spinghar Bazan .

For the 2015 season , Karimi should switch to league competitor De Maiwand Atalan . However, he received an offer from the Indian club Meghe United , for which he already played in early 2014, and moved to the Indian subcontinent in the Nagpur Premier League for the second half of the 2014/15 season . For the 2016 season he returned to his home club Tofan Harirod. After the group stage they were eliminated; Karimi scored no goal in three appearances.

In 2017 he moved back to India, this time to the I-League 2nd Division for Delhi United SC in the Indian capital. The striker prevailed as a regular but injured himself before the last group game on March 4, 2017 against Real Kashmir . Two months later he made his comeback on May 4, 2017 against Fateh Hyderabad (1: 2). Karimi, who only goes by his first name Hamidullah Nesar Ahmad in India, scored his first of two goals in a 3-2 win against Southern Samity on May 17, 2017. At the end of the season they missed promotion to the I-League in third place .

National team

Karimi played for the Afghan national team on June 4, 2013 in the 3-2 defeat by Tajikistan . He was in the starting line-up and was able to achieve the 2-1 lead in the 41st minute.

He was also nominated for the squad for the 2013 South Asian Cup , where the national team also won; Karimi remained without commitment. At the AFC Challenge Cup 2014 , he was used in the game for third place against the Maldives and was able to achieve the interim 1-0 lead; he was also able to score a goal in the subsequent penalty shoot-out (7: 8 as new). At the same time, it was Karimi's last game for the national team, he was not nominated after that.
