Hammerdal is a locality ( tätort ) in the Swedish province of County of Jämtland and the historic province of Jamtland in the municipality of Strömsund .
The place was the central place of its own parish until 1974, the church dates from 1782. The European route 45 leads through Hammerdal . There used to be a rail connection to the Inlandsbahn .
Swedish emigrants from Hammerdal are considered to be the founders of the city of Hammond, Louisiana .
