Hannes Grossmann , civic John Grossmann (* 8. September 1982 in Bayreuth ), is a German metal - and progressive rock - drummer .

Life

Großmann grew up in a musical family. According to his own statements, he began playing the piano at the age of eight - and playing drums at the age of ten. He attended the economics and natural science high school in Bayreuth and studied at the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg . He lives in Nuremberg .

Großmann played drums with Necrophagist from 2003 to 2007 and with Obscura from 2007 to 2014 . He has been with Blotted Science since 2010 and with Terrestrial Exiled since 2011. In mid-2014 he founded together with ex-Obscura members Christian Münzner and Linus Klausenitzer as well as Danny Tunker, known as the guitarist of Aborted , God Dethroned , Prostitute Disfigurement or Spawn of Possession , and the composer and musician Florian Magnus Maier alias "Morean" Tape alkaloid . Since 2013 he has been organizing workshops with Sebastian Lanser in the duo project Drum Illuminati with a focus on double bass and contemporary heavy drumming.

In 2014, Großmann released his first solo album entitled The Radial Covenant , on which he was supported by well-known guest musicians such as Jeff Loomis , Christian Münzner, Ron Jarzombek and Per Nilsson. Since 2015 he has also played with The Fractured Dimension.
