Blotted Science is a multinational supergroup with a focus on Technical Death Metal , which was founded in 2004 by guitarist Ron Jarzombek. Your only instrumental pieces usually wear medical name as Laser Lobotomy ( " Laser - lobotomy ") or vermicular Asphyxiation ( "vermicular asphyxia "). The band never performed live in its entire life .

history

Looking for suitable musicians for his project in came Austin living Watchtower guitarist Ron Jarzombek on the bassist Alex Webster of the band Cannibal Corpse after a video to the studio recordings of the band for the song Frantic Disembowelment had seen. The contact was made through the forum of his former band Spastic Ink , after which the two met at a concert of the band in Austin. Jarzombek found an experienced drummer in Chris Adler of the band Lamb of God , whereupon Jarzombek and Webster began to write the first songs for a planned studio album. They then sent the finished compositions to Adler, but Adler had problems implementing the ideas of the other two. In addition, the great distance between the musicians made it difficult to work together, so it was decided to part with Adler. In February 2006, Adler's successor, Derek Roddy, was introduced, with whom the band worked for half a year.

After separating from Roddy in August 2006, due to the fact that he wanted to change the drum parts written by Jarzombek and Webster too much, Jarzombek started looking for a new drummer and found Charlie Zeleny, whom Jarzombek had previously done Concert with his band Behold ... The Arctopus . Together they recorded the missing drum tracks for the planned studio album, which was to be released in early 2007. In mid-September, the band's debut album, The Machinations of Dementia , was released later than expected on Jarzombeks own music label EclecticElectric . Then the band members turned to other projects.

At the end of September 2010, Ron Jarzombek came back and announced that the band was currently working on a new release. In summer 2008 he and Webster made the decision to release a new CD at a joint meeting. However, due to the lack of time, it would have been decided to publish an EP . Furthermore , Hannes Grossmann from Germany , drummer of the band Obscura , was introduced as a new band member. Charlie Zeleny's departure was justified by the fact that Hannes Grossmann would be better suited to the band through his experience in various death metal bands.

On October 4, 2011, the band released their debut EP The Animation of Entomology on Jarzombeks own label EclecticElectric . The creation of the individual songs was based on various animal horror films that feature insects . The songs should sound like background music for them, with each guitar riff or solo representing a single animal. Jarzombek provided appropriate examples via the Internet portal YouTube , on which he published excerpts from the films King Kong and Swarmed in connection with the music of Blotted Science. At the end of October, the band announced that they had negotiated a record deal with the British label Basick Records , through which The Animation of Entomology was also available in Europe a month later .

In May 2013 the band re-released their debut album The Machinations of Dementia and the EP The Animation of Entomology as a record via Antithetic Records , each of which was limited to a few hundred copies.

style

Blotted Science only play instrumental music . When composing songs, Ron Jarzombek uses a simplified version of the twelve-tone technique , which was developed around 1920 by the composer Arnold Schönberg . Jarzombek uses a method developed by the Dutch composer Peter Schat , who imagined the circle of fifths as a kind of clock in which every single note represents a full hour. The formation of tone pairs, the pattern of which has been determined in advance, creates individual scales on which the guitar riffs in Jarzombeks' songs are based.
