Hanno Deutz

Hanno Deutz (born October 14, 1953 ) is a German table tennis player . With Borussia Düsseldorf he won the German team championship five times.

youth

Hanno Deutz became German youth champion in 1971 in doubles (with Manfred Baum ) and in mixed (with Iris Sudmann), in singles he reached the final. In the same year he won the DTTB-TOP12 youth ranking tournament. In this ranking tournament he won in 1972 and 1973 in the junior class.

Adults

In 1971 Deutz moved from his home club TTF Schmetz Herzogenrath to Bundesliga club Meidericher TTC . With this he became German cup winner in the 1971/72 season. He later played for the then top division club TTC Simex Jülich . At the end of 1972 he took part in an international match against South Korea in Osnabrück, where he lost his three singles against Chong Hyun Hong, Sung Kuk Chei and Cha Hyun Chung.

In 1976 he joined Borussia Düsseldorf . From 1978 to 1982 he was involved in winning the German team championship five times in a row. In addition, the club won the German Cup in 1982 and qualified for the European Cup , where Deutz came to the final in 1983.

At the German singles championships in 1979 and 1980 he reached the semi-finals in mixed with Kirsten Krüger , in 1980 he took third place in doubles with Peter Engel . In 1983 he was fourth with Hans-Joachim Nolten . In the national ranking tournament DTTB TOP12 he reached 4th place in 1977. He was then nominated as a substitute for the 1977 World Cup , where he did not get a chance.

In 1984 Hanno Deutz ended his career as a competitive athlete. He left Borussia Düsseldorf in the direction of TV Burtscheid, where he competed in the district league and later in the association league. From 2004 he played with the SuS Borussia Brand in the association league. In the 2013/2014 season he played for the TTC Rot-Gold Porz, also in the Association League. He is currently part of the district league team of DJK Forster Linde Aachen, where he plays together with his son Marius.

Private

In 1976 he founded a table tennis shop in Aachen. In the same year he married Ruth Richter, a table tennis player from Post SV Düsseldorf , who was also the sister of Gudrun Richter, Ralf Wosik's wife , with whom he had two children. He later took over his father's orthopedic business in Aachen.
