Hans-Christoph Hobohm

Hans-Christoph Hobohm (born May 12, 1955 in Bitterfeld ) is Professor of Library Science at the Potsdam University of Applied Sciences . His main areas of work are library management , knowledge management and information behavior research .

Career

Hans-Christoph Hobohm studied Romance studies , German and educational science in Cologne , Rennes and Paris at the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales with state exams for teaching at the 1st and 2nd secondary level . He wrote his doctorate on "Romance censorship in the early enlightenment in Paris" while studying library studies with Paul Kaegbein and Engelbert Plassmann in Cologne .

In 1987 he took over the management of the special library of the Institute for Applied Social Research at the University of Cologne. In 1989 he became a research assistant at the Institute for Literary Studies at the University of Stuttgart, and in 1990 he moved to the Information Center for Social Sciences in Bonn , part of the Society for Social Science Infrastructure (GESIS), as head of the "Products and Marketing" department.

In 1995 he received the call to the University of Applied Sciences in Potsdam , where he teaches and conducts research since then. From 2008 to 2011 he was the dean of the information science department. Since 2010, he and Rolf Däßler have been leading the consecutive master's degree in "Information Sciences" there. Deputy Head of the State Office for Archives and Public Libraries Brandenburg since 2016.

Member of the Leibniz Society for Science in Berlin since 2016.
