Hans-Christoph Schmidt-Lauber

Hans-Christoph Schmidt-Lauber (born February 4, 1928 in Lübeck , † April 27, 2009 in Vienna ) was a German Evangelical Lutheran theologian . He emerged in his writings primarily as a liturgical scholar.

Life

Hans-Christoph Schmidt-Lauber studied Protestant theology from 1947 to 1953 at the Philipps University of Marburg , the Eberhard Karls University of Tübingen , the Ruprecht Karls University of Heidelberg and the University of Birmingham . He then completed his vicariate in his native Lübeck and in 1955 became pastor of the St. Michael Church in Lübeck-Siems . Since that time he has been a member of the Michael Brotherhood . Two years later, Schmidt-Lauber became a member of the Liturgical Conference of Germany , which he remained until 2001. From 1961 to 1963 he was director of the Evangelical Lutheran Academy of South Africa and Namibia in Johannesburg .

He then took up the post as pastor of the Nikolaikirche in Kiel .

In 1977 Hans-Christoph Schmidt-Lauber was appointed to the Evangelical Theological Faculty of the University of Vienna . There he held the chair for practical theology until 1996 and was dean of the faculty from 1984 to 1986 and from 1992 to 1994 . From 1981 to 1983 he was also president of the international liturgical science society Societas Liturgica , for which he had been treasurer since 1973.

Hans-Christoph Schmidt-Lauber was married and had five children. After his death he was buried at the Dornbacher Friedhof in Vienna.
