Hans-Dieter Steinbach

Hans-Dieter Steinbach (born March 21, 1952 in Lüdenscheid ) is a German diplomat . He was Consul General in Sydney until June 2015 .

biography

After graduating from the Zeppelin-Gymnasium Lüdenscheid, he studied law between 1970 and 1975 and, after his first state examination in law , did his basic military service in the German armed forces between 1976 and 1977 . After completing his legal preparatory service , he passed his second state examination in law in 1980.

In 1980 he entered the diplomatic service and after completing his attaché training in 1982, he was employed at the Foreign Office in Bonn and then from 1985 to 1988 at the embassy in Bulgaria . Subsequently, he was permanent representative of the ambassador in Trinidad and Tobago and then between 1990 and 1993 employee of the embassy in Israel . After returning to the Foreign Office, he was permanent representative of the ambassador to Croatia between 1996 and 1999 and then permanent representative of the head of the Mission of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) in Croatia until 2000 .

In 2001 he was appointed ambassador to Rwanda . He held this post until 2004, after which he was first inspector at the headquarters of the Foreign Office and then from 2006 to 2008 head of internal auditing and officer for corruption prevention in the central department.

From April 2008 to July 2011 Hans-Dieter Steinbach was Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany in Kosovo , after which he was appointed Consul General in Sydney (Australia). Hans-Dieter Steinbach retired on June 30, 2015.
