Krage's grandfather was a master blacksmith and responsible for the parade white horses. In the village of Nieden , his parents had a bakery with an attached farm, restaurant and grocery store.

In 1945 he came into American captivity, from which he fled a little later. The parents' businesses were lost in the chaos of war. His father was thought missing and his mother was terminally ill. In 1946 he took over his parents' bakery and continued to run it.

In order to be able to take part in the last all-German motorcycle race in 1948, he moved non-ferrous metal, which was considered the most stable currency at the time. For this Krage was sentenced to one and a half years of forced labor in the coal mining industry. On June 17, 1953 , he marched in the front row and was arrested again for rioting and despising the GDR and then released to the western part of Berlin.

There he set up a specialist car workshop at the end of 1962, which concentrated on Porsche vehicles. Later he devoted himself again to racing; from then on, racing boats were his passion. He started a family and had daughter Anke and son Peer (born January 20, 1968 ) with his wife Christa

In March 1973 he founded together with Dieter König , Karl-Heinz Bartel, Kurt Mischke, Hanns-Dieter Gessner, Dieter Wagner, H.-G. Mössner and Peter Komoll founded the Motorboot-Rennboot-Club Berlin (MRC).

From then on he organized international motorboat races in Berlin on the Upper and Lower Havel with the association. Here he first appeared as an organizer and in later years also as a race director. He founded the first junior group for motorboat racing, today's class OSY-400. In 1981, Krage was responsible for the introduction of the jetty start (first name "Start a la Gatow") and for the inclusion of this start in the racing regulations of the German Motor Yacht Association.

In 1986, Hans-Georg Krage was awarded the Silver Laurel Leaf . In 2002 he handed over his garage to his son.
