The Hans-Grüninger-Gymnasium ( HGG ) is a high school founded in 1966 in Markgröningen in the Ludwigsburg district of Baden-Württemberg . It is named after the printer and publisher Johannes Reinhard, who was born here and named himself Hans Grüninger after his hometown and who published the first description of the city, once known as Grüningen , in print (see picture). The forerunner of the HGG was the Grüningen Latin School, first mentioned in 1354 and closed in 1922 .

The approximately 600 students come mainly from Markgröningen itself and the surrounding communities Möglingen , Schwieberdingen , Hemmingen and Eberdingen . They are taught by around 60 teachers.

concept

The Abitur after twelve years (also G8 ) was introduced in the 2004/2005 school year, like at most high schools in Baden-Württemberg.

A voluntary all-day offer is available for pupils in 5th and 6th grade. The newly built building with a cafeteria was officially inaugurated on October 10, 2009. The cafeteria is run in cooperation with LWV.Eingliederungshilfe and the Markgröningen home for the disabled .

Thanks to the cooperation with the Helene-Lange-Gymnasium in Markgröningen, the HGG can offer a wide range of elective core subjects in course levels 1 and 2.

Since 2012, the education center, which also includes the Markgröningen secondary school, has been refurbished for around 21 million euros and developed into a modern educational campus. So far only the scientific west building has been completed. At the same time, the sports facilities are being expanded.

For the 40th anniversary of the school, which was only celebrated in July 2008, the then Prime Minister of Baden-Württemberg Günther Oettinger was also present. The entire complex is currently being renovated. The new west building was inaugurated in 2014, followed by the east building in 2015. Now all parts of the building are integrated into the school.
