Hans-Heinrich Worgitzky

Hans-Heinrich Worgitzky (born July 9, 1907 , † 1969 ) was a German officer, Brigadier General of the Reserve of the Bundeswehr and Vice President of the Federal Intelligence Service .

Life

Worgitzky joined the Reichswehr, where he last held the rank of first lieutenant . In 1934 he was an adjutant in the 8th Infantry Regiment. From 1936 to 1938 he graduated from the War Academy . After that he was u. a. active in the operations department of the General Staff of the Army . In 1940 he was assigned to the 27th Infantry Division as the first general staff officer (Ia) . In 1941 he joined the 52nd Infantry Division . After a stopover in 1942, he became Third General Staff Officer (Ic) in the Norwegian Army High Command . He later worked in the same position in Army Group Center . From 1944 he was Colonel i. G. Most recently he was assigned to Army Group B. During the war he was awarded the German Cross in Gold.

In 1946 he joined the Gehlen Organization , the predecessor organization of the BND. From 1946 to 1956 he was branch manager. In 1956 he became Reinhard Gehlen's deputy . From 1957 to 1967 he was Vice President of the Federal Intelligence Service (BND). Due to an illness that began in 1965, Worgitzky was put into temporary retirement in 1967.
