Hans-Jürgen Koebnick

Hans-Jürgen Koebnick (born June 1, 1938 in Schneidemühl ) is a German politician ( SPD ). Between 1985 and 1991 he was Lord Mayor of Saarbrücken .

Koebnick trained as a business graduate . In 1971 he was a member of the Saarbrücken city council for the SPD and parliamentary group leader, became party chairman of the SPD local association St. Johann in 1972 , then mayor of Saarbrücken and followed his party friend Oskar Lafontaine in 1985 in the office of mayor. In 1991 he was appointed President of the Saarland Central Bank. He ended his career as President of the Landeszentralbank Rhineland-Palatinate and Saarland. In 2002 he retired.
