Life

Denecke studied medicine at the Philipps University of Marburg and the Albert Ludwigs University of Freiburg . He then went to the Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität zu Berlin at the Ernst-Moritz-Arndt-Universität Greifswald . In Greifswald he was awarded a Dr. med. PhD. In 1937 he was in Prenzlau (internal medicine) and in 1938/39 with Hermann Loeschcke in Greifswald (pathology). 1939–1941 he served as a medical officer in the army (Wehrmacht) . At Walther Uffenorde in Marburg, he turned to the surgical treatment of diseases of the paranasal sinuses in 1941 . In 1943 he moved to the Heidelberg University Hospital and learned from Alfred Seiffert (1883–1960) a broad-based surgical otorhinolaryngology . In 1945 he was in Heidelberg, the first lecturer who after the war at the re-opened Medical Faculty habilitation . As early as 1947, Springer-Verlag entrusted him with the editing of the Zentralblatt for Otorhinolaryngology . Until his death he compiled over 100 volumes as co-editor on all subjects of ENT medicine and its border areas. With his extensive surgical experience, he was commissioned in 1948 by the surgeons Rudolf Zenker and Nicolai Guleke to describe operations on the ear, nose and larynx in Kirschner's surgical theory. In 1950 he was appointed associate professor . His promising career ended at a congress. He responded to the instructive contribution to the discussion by a full professor with the (correct) reference that he “had never operated on something like this”. Denecke remained a senior physician in Heidelberg and in 1954 went to the Speyererhof hospital, today's Schmieder Heidelberg clinics .

Denecke's list of publications is extraordinarily extensive. She records complex issues and has enormous operational experience.
